TV Stands - A Perfect Gift This Christmas

Got a sleek, modern Television? Getting one for Christmas? Sick of the old and out of fashion TV stand you have? Maybe it’s time to make a change! Change is good and comes with a lot of benefits. But when it comes to choose the perfect TV stand you need to take into consideration all the possibilities, as the TV unit can be just as important as the television in style and functionality.

Location. First of all, you need to decide where to place your new Television.  This should be easy. If you want to look comfortable and cosy, a small unit that fits neatly with all your other furniture snug in the corner – nice and compact. Though, maybe, you want it to be the centrepiece of the entire room. Show off the new flat panel TV and your premium Hi-Fi rack all on one unit.  You’ll want something big, bold, sleek and in the middle of everything else.

Style. Take a look around and decide which style will be more appropriate: traditional or modern? If you decide to go for the traditional, solid wooden units are the best choice; they bring a homely feel and they have a meticulously sanded finish that brings out the rich colour of the wood grain.  On the other side, modern style will be a great addition to any interior bringing a touch of opulence that will give a refreshing look. These usually perfectly combine glass with chrome or metal and the result is undoubtedly refined and stunning. Maybe you want to go for the more artistic with brilliant curves and subtle lines. The possibilities are endless!

Dimension. Size matters and you need to check first your TV dimensions before. There is a rule saying that it should be same height or shorter than your sofa or bed. If your place is really compact you can pick a corner unit that will save you important space. Always remember to check the maximum size of Television the stand can take. Lets also not forget the overall weight, with the advent of modern LCD, LED and Plasma panel screens, many TV Units are not designed to hold the weight of older CRT Televisions.

Colour.  Once you decided about the shape last thing you need to decide what colour you would prefer.  Again, it should match the other fittings you have. Your sofas, curtains, carpet, furniture together with your new TV unit have to be in harmony and have the same style. Black is bold and elegant, white is shinny and feminine, beech is tidy and warm, wenge and walnut are both elegant and sophisticated. Modern stands are typically black and silver in appearance or have strong emphasis on black and some form of dark of bold wood colour, such as walnut or wenge. Maybe you don’t want to overpower your room with too much black – your entertainment equipment is already black and silver. Sometimes a deep wenge with only a hint of glossy black can give your room a much needed hint of colour to differentiate it from the rest and draw your visitors eyes.

Have a friend who might need a new TV Stand? Great! Do a quick investigation and find out which model would be suitable for him and get him a superb Christmas gift!
